Consideration on the Side-effects of Abortion

Abstract
In Korea, about from six hundred thousand to one million two hundred thousand artificial abortions are performed every year. However any reliable survey in maternity death caused by artificial abortions and case studies have not been made yet.
According to the figures released by the Bureau of Statistics of Japan, medical disputes resulted from abortion took up 70-odd cases out of 400 obstetrics and gynecology related controversies handled by court for 20 years, from 1962 to 1982. Among them, incomplete abortion top the list as 22 cases followed by bleedings or remaining remnants in wombs, which are 9, inflammations or infections, 8, and anesthetic accidents, which are 7 cases.
This is focused on our mishaps in incomplete abortion, bleedings, inflammations, infections and anesthetic accidents with a help of judicial precedents of Japan. Medical mistakes generally consist of misdiagnosis, malpractice during operation, idleness of the proper follow -up care after treatment and septic shock occurred by negligence of inflammation.
Needless to say, they are avoidable. In medical law suits, not a few cases have resulted in acknowledging doctor¢¥s responsibilities for their mistreatment and ordering them to compensate to their patients.
It is time that we should try harder to identify main factors which lead to mortality from abortion and to save both patients and doctors from more unhappy medical troubles.
